I smile with my eyes and wish them the appropriate greeting ( good morning, afternoon, evening ) in a pleasant tone. Almost all of them reply the same, but I think we are conditioned to do that. It's only polite.

MAJOR VICTORY: One of the guys in Seafood, who is a grumpy old fart to everyone, would refer to me as "Maintenance", and not use my name, and seemed to wonder why I even existed. I made it a point to ALWAYS greet him with a cheerful smile and salutation. It worked! He finally started using my name, although he thinks my name is "Josie"? LOL. Now I just need to find two pussycats and I can start a band!

I am thrilled to say that all of the women accept me, and I've even been dragged into a couple of gossip chats! AND, two of the women are becoming girlfriends, and want to go shopping and hang out together!

And, I'm not sure, but I think that one of the guys working there likes me. He always greets me with a cheerful hello, and the other day said, "Hi Jodie, how are you today sweetie?" I have to admit that it made me smile and blush a little.....

Across the plaza there is a pizza place, I went in one day on lunch, and the owner was working. When I walked in, there was a customer picking up and order, and the man behind the counter looked at me and said: "Hello gorgeous, what can I get you?" Girls, I cannot tell you how wonderful that made me feel! I ordered my slice, and went outside to eat. The counterman joined me and I found out he was the owner and we had a very pleasant chat. I found out a lot about him in that half hour, he is a wonderful example of a human being! People like him give me hope that humans can be a great species!

All in all, life is pretty damn good, and I am a happy, happy girl!

Jodie, thank you for sharing your uplifting story. I always love to hear when a fellow human being has reached happiness in life. You are proof that love can conquer all, as with your interaction with the Seafood guy. It is one of the hardest things to learn, to smile and be respectful to those who may not like, or understand you, but the rewards can be wonderful. Many a friendship started out that way. I wish you continued happiness and success in the future. All the best.

I was chatting with two of the ladies in the Deli department, about places to shop, and one of them said she was clearing out her closet. She said she was going to give it to Goodwill, but wanted to know if I wanted to go through the stuff first. She asked me if I could squeeze into a size 12 skirt. I took her arm and said 'Thanks, but I'm a size 6'. Both women groaned and rolled their eyes, and the other woman called me a skinny bitch! But she said it with a smile.

I am totally accepted by the women at work and they include me in all the gossip. I feel like I am a part of the family
Before you can love another, you HAVE to love yourself first

I have to confess to a bit of jealousy on my part. Size 6? Because I'm a bit barrel chested, my top half forces me into size 12's/size large in dresses and tops. I'm 5'8". How tall are you girl?
