3 Simple Tips for Removing Makeup from Clothing

8/22/2017

I think we can agree that one of the most exciting aspects of crossdressing is… makeup! It’s so fun to play with all of the different shades, colors, lipsticks and glosses, eyeshadows, the list goes on!

Eventually, it’s bound to happen…. you’re going to get a makeup stain on your favorite new dress … oh no!

Don’t fret, because today’s post is going to be all about how you can remove a pesky foundation stain from your clothing.

Luckily there are several methods for getting foundation (and other makeup for that matter) out of your clothing. We will cover a few different methods starting with the simplest.

1: Laundry detergent wipes

As a crossdresser, I rarely leave the house without laundry detergent wipes in my purse. They
come in handy so often that I can’t imagine not having them with me!

Not only are they great for getting food stains out of clothing, but also makeup stains!

Detergent wipes are easy to find at almost any store so they’re great in a pinch. Simply use a wipe to scrub the stain in a circular motion until the stain becomes unnoticeable.

Tip: for best results, use the wipe as soon as possible after the stain occurs.

This method will usually work best with makeup that’s not oil based . Oil based stains require a little more finesse, but that’s what our next 2 methods will help you with!

2: Dish soap

If you have an oil-based makeup stain on your clothing, sometimes they can be a little tougher to remove.

Simply blot any excess makeup from the clothing with a towel or any other absorbent material.

Next, put cold water on the stain and rub a small amount of dish soap into the stain . Then, rub the stain in a circular motion with a small towel. Let the soap and water sit for 10-20 minutes.

Lastly, blot the stain with a dry towel . This should remove most, if not all, of the makeup stain!

What if you’ve tried the above methods and you still have a noticeable stain on your favorite shirt? This brings us to our last tip for removing a makeup blunder in your clothes.

3: Shaving cream

Yes you read that right, shaving cream! While this method is super simple, it unfortunately cannot be used while “on the go.”

If you have a stain that you cannot remove from your clothing from the above 2 methods, it’s time to try this last trick (and it’s an easy one!).

Apply a small amount of shaving cream to the makeup stain, allow to sit for 10-20 minutes, then wash the affected clothing as you normally would in the washer . That’s it!

The shaving cream actually helps pull the stain out of the clothing without damaging the fabric.
How simple is that?

Tip: shaving cream may not work as effectively with oil based makeup. To remove an oil based stain in the washer, simply use dish soap on the stain rather than the shaving cream, before you put the garment in the wash!

While I hope that you never get makeup on your clothing, I hope that today’s post will help you just in case it happens 🙂
